Great for Disney fans from about 6, including children who love Frozen, Lilo & Stitch and Zootopia

Think twice if You want the box Skillmatics makes for India: that is the 2021 deck on our Guess in 10: Disney page

How we rate it

Learning curve. Yes-or-no questions, two guesses, 7 cards to win; Skillmatics says 2 minutes to learn. A 1 on our scale, like UNO.

Luck & skill. The card you draw is luck, and Olaf is easier than Flounder. Good questions that split the characters (animal or not, from which kind of film, can it fly) and knowing many films decide most games.

Interaction. Two sides take turns asking and answering truthfully; nobody blocks or attacks.

Set-up. Put the cards in the card holder and hand out three clue cards per side.

Reading. The card-holder reads English buzz-words, clues and bonus questions aloud; guessers only talk.

Learning curve: 1 = UNO or Connect 4; 3 = Catan; 5 = a heavy strategy game. These describe the experience, not an overall score.

Is Guess in 10: Disney (US edition) right for you?

Great if

  • Disney fans from about 6, including children who love Frozen, Lilo & Stitch and Zootopia
  • Families who like to play in two teams at get-togethers and on holidays
  • Travel, with the cards kept in a card holder inside a small box
  • A gift for a child who knows their Disney characters

Skip it if

  • You want the box Skillmatics makes for India: that is the 2021 deck on our Guess in 10: Disney page
  • You already own the other Disney box: the rules are the same, and we can't tell how many characters differ
  • Nobody at the table can read the English cards aloud

How Guess in 10: Disney (US edition) plays

This is the same game as Skillmatics' Indian Disney deck, in a box made in 2024 for its global shop. The 52 character cards go in the card holder, each player or team takes three clue cards for the whole game, and the first side to win 7 cards wins.

  • Time to teach: about 2 minutes.
  • Reading and language: Everything on the cards is in English, and the card-holder reads the buzz-words, clues and bonus question aloud. Questions and guesses can be in any language the players share. Skillmatics makes no Hindi or regional-language Disney deck that we could find.

A turn, step by step

  1. 1
    Hint

Draw a character card from the card holder, keep it hidden, and read two of its buzz-words, such as 'Playful' and 'Furry' for Stitch.

  2. 2
    Ask

The other side asks up to 10 yes-or-no questions and may make two guesses; three clue cards each must last the whole game.

  3. 3
    Win

A right guess keeps the card, and a bonus question can earn a head start. The first side to collect 7 cards wins.

The full explanation: how a game of Guess in 10: Disney (US edition) goes

Each card shows one Disney character with three buzz-words, three clues in the character's own voice, a facts panel and a bonus question. On Skillmatics' sample cards, Olaf is loyal, wacky and innocent, Stitch is playful, strong and furry, and Judy Hopps is the rabbit from Zootopia who teams up with a fox.

The card-holder reads out two buzz-words, and the guessers have up to 10 yes-or-no questions; 'Is the character an animal?' and 'Does this character wear a blue gown?' are Skillmatics' own examples. A clue card buys one of the three printed clues, and the series rules allow two guesses per card.

Guess right and you keep the card. Then decide whether to take on the bonus: spell PINOCCHIO, name four of the seven dwarfs Snow White befriends, or say which instrument Lilo teaches Stitch. Get it right and you hear all three buzz-words next turn; get it wrong and you lose the card.

How this box differs from the Indian Disney deck: it has its own item code, SKILL653GD; it is a 2024 printing that Skillmatics sells on its global shop rather than in India; and its box back lists a card holder among the contents. Skillmatics' pictures also show different sample characters for the two boxes, but it doesn't publish either list of 52, so we can't say how many cards differ. Both boxes are made in India.

About the editions

This Disney box is the one Skillmatics sells on its global shop, but it is still made in India: Skillmatics' own photo of the box back reads 'Made in India' and names Grasper Global in Mumbai as the maker. The box Skillmatics makes for India is its 2021 Disney deck, which has its own page with us; the two play the same way. Our Amazon.in link goes to this 2024 box, item SKILL653GD.

Before you choose

  • The box front should say Skillmatics, Guess in 10 and Disney Edition, with an Ages 6+ mark.
  • The box back should give the product code SKILL653GD, name Grasper Global Private Limited, Mumbai, carry a '© Disney' line and say Made in India.
  • Inside you should find 52 character cards, 6 clue cards, a card holder and instructions.
  • A box coded SKILL172GDP is Skillmatics' Indian Disney deck, a different box of the same game.
  • Check that the listing names the maker, Skillmatics.

What reviewers and players say

We found no independent reviews of the 2024 Disney box. It shares its rules with the rest of Skillmatics' Guess in 10 range, whose animal deck won a NAPPA parenting award in 2022 for being fun for children and parents together and easy to travel with. Its sample cards mix older and newer films, from Snow White and Pinocchio to Olaf, Stitch and Judy Hopps, so children who know Frozen, Lilo & Stitch and Zootopia should enjoy it. Families who already own the Indian Disney deck should know that the rules are the same and some characters may repeat.

What people love

  • Characters from older and newer films, from Pinocchio to Judy Hopps
  • Playful bonus questions, such as spelling PINOCCHIO
  • A card holder in the box to keep the deck tidy
  • The same quick rules as the rest of the range

Common complaints

  • No independent reviews of this box
  • Skillmatics doesn't say how its 52 characters compare with the Indian Disney deck
  • English clues have to be read aloud

Questions people ask about Guess in 10: Disney (US edition)

How is this Guess in 10 Disney box different from the Indian one?

It is Skillmatics' 2024 box (SKILL653GD) from its global shop; the Indian deck is SKILL172GDP from 2021. Both have 52 characters, 6 clue cards and the same rules, and both are made in India. This box lists a card holder, and Skillmatics' sample pictures show different characters such as Olaf, Stitch and Baloo, but Skillmatics doesn't publish full lists, so we can't say how many cards differ.

Is the Guess in 10 Disney Edition an imported game?

Not in the usual sense. Skillmatics' photo of the box back says 'Made in India', with Grasper Global in Mumbai as the maker. It is simply the box Skillmatics sells on its global shop rather than in India, and it plays exactly like the Indian deck.

Which Disney characters are in this box?

Skillmatics' sample cards for this box show Olaf, Snow White, Stitch, Pinocchio, Judy Hopps, Baloo and Flounder, and its how-to-play example is Cinderella. There are 52 characters in all.

What age is Guess in 10 Disney Edition for?

Skillmatics says 6 and up, and its global shop adds that it is designed for ages 6 to 12 but enjoyed by all ages. For Disney fans of 3 to 6, Skillmatics makes Guess in 10 Junior: Disney Princess.

Is it officially licensed by Disney?

Yes. Skillmatics makes it under licence from Disney, and the box back carries a '© Disney' line. The game itself is Skillmatics' design, the same one used in all its Guess in 10 decks.
