Great for Children of 5 to 8 learning about jobs and the people in their neighbourhood

Think twice if You want a game for four or more people at once: it is made for two players or two teams

How we rate it

Learning curve. Ask, answer, cross off: a 5-year-old can follow it after one round, so it sits with Guess Who? at 1 on our scale.

Luck & skill. Questions that rule out many helpers at once are the skill; which card comes up, and a lucky early guess, are the luck.

Interaction. The two sides talk every turn, but nobody can block or slow the other down.

Set-up. Pick a level, shuffle those 25 cards and give the mat and marker to the guesser.

Reading. Helper names and short lines on the cards and mat are in English; the questions are spoken.

Learning curve: 1 = UNO or Connect 4; 3 = Catan; 5 = a heavy strategy game. These describe the experience, not an overall score.

Is Who Am I? Community Helper Edition right for you?

Great if

  • Children of 5 to 8 learning about jobs and the people in their neighbourhood
  • A parent and child, or two siblings, on a quiet afternoon or a train journey
  • Practising good questions: 'Do you wear a uniform?' rules out more helpers than a wild guess
  • A birthday present or return gift for a child in kindergarten or the first years of school

Skip it if

  • You want a game for four or more people at once: it is made for two players or two teams
  • Your child loves faces and flip-down frames: Guess Who? is the classic version of this idea
  • You want deeper strategy: once a child learns good questions, rounds go quickly

How Who Am I? Community Helper Edition plays

In the box: 50 community helper cards in two levels of 25, a double-sided wipe-clean mat that shows the helpers, a marker, a sand timer and an instruction manual. GiniMini's pictures show helpers such as a firefighter, a paramedic, a lifeguard, a detective, a judge, a florist and a mechanic, and the cards carry short lines about what each one does, such as 'Treats injured people'. Start with Level 1 and move on to Level 2 when it gets easy.

  • Time to teach: about 3 minutes.
  • Reading and language: Questions are spoken, so they can be in Hindi, Tamil or any language. The helper names and short lines on the cards and the mat are printed in English, so an adult may need to help a 5-year-old with longer names such as nutritionist. We found no Hindi edition.

A turn, step by step

  1. 1
    Hide

One player or team takes a community helper card and keeps it secret.

  2. 2
    Ask

Turn the sand timer over. The other side asks yes-or-no questions, such as 'Do you wear a uniform?'

  3. 3
    Cross

After each answer, cross off every helper on the wipe-clean mat that no longer fits.

  4. 4
    Guess

Name the helper before the sand runs out to win the round, then swap roles.

The full explanation: how a game of Who Am I? Community Helper Edition goes

A round: one player or team takes a helper card without showing it. The other side turns the sand timer over and asks yes-or-no questions, such as 'Do you wear a uniform?', 'Do you work outdoors?' or 'Do you help people who are hurt?'. After each answer, the guesser uses the marker to cross off every helper on the mat that no longer fits.

Name the helper before the sand runs out to win the round, then swap roles and wipe the mat clean. GiniMini doesn't publish its rules online, so the number of rounds and how to keep score are in the manual; a simple way is a point for each helper found in time.

How it differs from Guess Who?: in Guess Who? both players have a frame of faces, each hides a character, and you take turns asking about looks such as hats and glasses, with no time limit. Here the secret is a job, so the questions are about what people do, where they work and what they wear. There is one mat and marker instead of two frames, a sand timer keeps the pace up, and two levels of cards let the game grow with the child.

Tips: go through the cards together before the first game and talk about where you have seen each helper. Children of 5 often guess too early, so encourage two or three questions first. Questions can be asked in any language, and with more children, play as two teams.

About the editions

Who Am I? Community Helper Edition is a GiniMini game, made for Indian children by a kids' learning brand from Indore that belongs to Riseom Solutions. There is only one edition, so there is no imported version to look for. Our Amazon.in link goes to the listing sold by Riseom itself. GiniMini doesn't say where the game is made, so we don't call it made in India.

Before you choose

  • The listing should name GiniMini as the brand and Riseom Solutions as the seller
  • The box front says 'Who Am I? Not every hero wears a cape' and Community Helper Edition, with 5+ and 50 cards
  • Inside are 50 helper cards in two levels of 25, a wipe-clean mat, a marker and a sand timer
  • Many games are called Who Am I?, so check for GiniMini's name if you want this one

What reviewers and players say

We found no independent reviews, videos or forum threads about GiniMini's Who Am I?, which went on sale in July 2026, so this rests on GiniMini's own page and pictures. On paper it takes the familiar Guess Who? idea and turns it towards jobs: children ask about uniforms, workplaces and what people do, and cross helpers off a mat against a sand timer. That makes it a useful pick for children of 5 to 8 who are learning about community helpers at school, while children who love faces and flip-down doors may still prefer the original Guess Who? board game.

What people love

  • Teaches what community helpers do while children practise asking good questions
  • Two levels of 25 cards, so it can grow with a child
  • A sand timer keeps rounds quick
  • A small box with a wipe-clean mat that travels well

Common complaints

  • The rules and scoring aren't published online
  • Made for two players or two teams, not a big group
  • No independent reviews yet

Questions people ask about Who Am I? Community Helper Edition

How is GiniMini's Who Am I? different from Guess Who?

Both are yes-or-no guessing games for two. Guess Who? uses frames of faces and you ask about looks, with no time limit. Who Am I? uses community helper cards, so you ask about jobs, uniforms and workplaces, cross helpers off a wipe-clean mat and race a sand timer.

What age is Who Am I? Community Helper Edition for?

The box says 5 and up, and GiniMini's page says 5 to 12. Start younger children on the Level 1 cards; an adult may need to help with longer job names such as nutritionist.

How many people can play Who Am I?

It is made for two players or two teams. With more children, split into two teams that agree on each question together and take turns holding the marker.

Which community helpers are in the game?

GiniMini's pictures show helpers such as a firefighter, paramedic, lifeguard, detective, judge, reporter, florist, mechanic and magician, across 50 cards in two levels. We couldn't read every card, so the full list is in the box.

What is the sand timer for?

The guesser has to name the helper before the sand runs out, which keeps rounds short and exciting. For a very young child, play without it until they are used to asking questions.
