The quick verdict

Full verdict ↓

Great for Children of 3 to 6 who are ready for more than matching two identical pictures

Think twice if Your child is 7 or older and already quick at pairs games

How we rate it

Learning curve. Turn two, keep a pair: a three-year-old gets it in one round. Working out which cards belong together adds a little thinking, but it sits with the other first memory games at 1.

Luck & skill. The first few turns are luck; after that, remembering where cards are decides the game.

Interaction. Players take turns and watch each other's flips, but nobody blocks or takes from anyone else.

Set-up. Pick the sets you want, shuffle and lay the cards face down in rows.

Reading. Pictures do the work; some cards carry a short English word that an adult can read out.

Learning curve: 1 = UNO or Connect 4; 3 = Catan; 5 = a heavy strategy game. These describe the experience, not an overall score.

Is Mind & Memory right for you?

Great if

  • Children of 3 to 6 who are ready for more than matching two identical pictures
  • Parents and grandparents who like to talk while they play: every pair is something to name and explain
  • Growing with a child: start with one set of 16 cards, add more as they get better
  • Trips to the grandparents' or a long train journey, since the cards come in a carry bag

Skip it if

  • Your child is 7 or older and already quick at pairs games
  • You need a game for more than four players
  • You want a game with a board, pieces or a race to the finish

How Mind & Memory plays

The box holds 64 cards that make 32 pairs, in four sets of 16: animals and their babies, opposites, parts and wholes, and everyday things that go together. Unlike a classic memory game, the two cards of a pair don't show the same picture. They belong together, the way a baby animal belongs with its parent or a slice belongs with the whole.

  • Time to teach: about 2 minutes.
  • Reading and language: The game runs on pictures. Some cards carry a short English word, but children don't need to read: name what you see in English, Hindi or your home language.

A turn, step by step

  1. 1
    Flip

Turn two face-down cards face up so everyone can see them.

  2. 2
    Think

Do they belong together, like a baby animal and its parent, or two opposites?

  3. 3
    Match

If they do, say why, keep the pair and go again; if not, turn them back.

  4. 4
    Win

When all the pairs are found, the player holding the most pairs wins.

The full explanation: how a game of Mind & Memory goes

Set-up: choose which sets to play with. For a three-year-old, one set of 16 cards (8 pairs) is plenty; five- and six-year-olds can mix two sets or use all 64. Shuffle the cards and lay them face down in rows.

A turn: turn any two cards face up so everyone can see them. If they belong together, say why, keep the pair and have another go. If they don't, turn them back in the same places and the next player takes a turn. When every pair has been found, the player with the most pairs wins.

GiniMini sums the game up as flip, think, match and learn, and says the difficulty builds up as children go. A gentle way in for the youngest is to lay one set face up first and let them find the pairs and explain them, then turn the cards over for a real memory game. The instruction manual in the box has the maker's own ways to play.

Tips: name each card aloud as it turns up, which helps everyone remember where it was. A child playing alone can count how many turns it takes to clear a set, then try to beat that next time.

About the editions

Mind & Memory is a GiniMini game, from the kids' learning brand of Riseom Solutions in Indore, and it is sold in India in GiniMini's own box. There is only one edition, so there is no imported version to look for. Our Amazon.in link goes to the listing sold by Riseom itself.

Before you choose

  • The box and listing name GiniMini, and the listing names Riseom Solutions Private Limited, Indore, as maker and seller
  • Inside: 64 cards making 32 pairs, a GiniMini carry bag and an instruction manual
  • The pairs belong together rather than look alike: animals and their babies, opposites, parts and wholes, and things that go together
  • A memory set where both cards of a pair show the same picture is a different game

What reviewers and players say

We found no independent reviews, blog posts, videos or forum threads about Mind & Memory, so this rests on GiniMini's own pages and pictures. On paper it takes the classic pairs game and asks a little more of young children: instead of two identical pictures, they must remember where a card is and work out what goes with it. That gives parents plenty to talk about while they play and makes it more of a learning game than most memory sets. It is new (GiniMini listed it in 2026), and with 32 pairs, children will probably move on from it by about 7.

What people love

  • Pairs that need a moment's thought, not just two identical pictures
  • Four sets that can be played on their own, so the game grows with a child
  • Small and light, with a bag to carry it
  • Plays alone or with up to three others

Common complaints

  • Only 32 pairs, so older children may tire of it quickly
  • GiniMini publishes no rules online; they come only in the box
  • No independent reviews yet

Questions people ask about Mind & Memory

How do you play GiniMini Mind & Memory?

Lay the cards face down and turn two over on your turn. If they belong together, such as an animal and its baby or two opposites, keep them and go again; if not, turn them back. When every pair is found, the player with the most pairs wins, and the manual in the box has GiniMini's own ways to play.

What age is Mind & Memory for?

GiniMini says 3 to 6 years. Three-year-olds do best with one set of 16 cards and an adult beside them, while five- and six-year-olds can take on all 64 cards.

How is Mind & Memory different from an ordinary memory game?

In most memory games both cards of a pair show the same picture. Here they show two different things that belong together, so a child has to remember where a card is and also work out what its partner is.

How many can play Mind & Memory?

The box shows 1 to 4 players. A child can also play alone by trying to clear a set in fewer turns each time.

Is Mind & Memory made in India?

It comes from GiniMini, the kids' brand of Riseom Solutions Private Limited in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, which also sells it on Amazon.in. GiniMini's web page doesn't say where the box is made, so check the box if that matters to you.
