The quick verdict
Full verdict ↓Great for Children from 6 who like jigsaws and enjoy a race
Think twice if Your child dislikes snatching games; quick hands get the best pieces
How we rate it
Learning curve. Grab a piece, fit it on, count your points: rules a six-year-old can follow after one turn.
Luck & skill. Which pieces come out of the bag is luck, and speed decides who gets the best one; you only choose which piece to grab and where it goes.
Interaction. Everyone reaches for the same few pieces at once, but you can't touch anyone else's puzzle.
Set-up. Put the small pieces in the bag and hand out the large pieces.
Reading. Coloured pieces only; the rules are in English on the box.
Learning curve: 1 = UNO or Connect 4; 3 = Catan; 5 = a heavy strategy game. These describe the experience, not an overall score.

Great if
- Children from 6 who like jigsaws and enjoy a race
- Cousins or a family of three or four wanting a short, lively game
- Practising colour matching and spotting shapes without it feeling like a lesson
- Filling ten minutes before dinner, since a game is over quickly
Skip it if
- Your child dislikes snatching games; quick hands get the best pieces
- You want deep strategy; which pieces come out of the bag is luck
- You want a puzzle with a finished picture; each player builds a free-form shape for points
How Jig Stars plays
The box holds 4 large jigsaw pieces, 48 small ones and a drawstring bag. Each player builds their own puzzle in front of them, and the small pieces go into the bag.
- Time to teach: about 3 minutes.
- Reading and language: Nothing to read during play: only coloured jigsaw pieces. The rules are short and printed in English on the box back and the instruction sheet.

A turn, step by step
- 1Drop
One player draws as many pieces as there are players from the bag, without looking, and drops them in the middle.
- 2Grab
Everyone grabs one piece at the same time and joins it to their own puzzle on any edge.
- 3Score
When the pieces run out, score a point for each same-colour diamond and each star on a corner piece; the most points wins.
The full explanation: how a game of Jig Stars goes
At the start of a turn, one player reaches into the bag without looking and pulls out as many pieces as there are players, then drops them in the middle once everyone is ready. All players grab one piece each at the same time and fit it into their own puzzle. Pieces can join on any edge, so your puzzle can grow in any shape.
The bag then passes to the next player clockwise and a new turn begins, until the pieces run out. Then everyone counts their points: one for every diamond made of two halves of the same colour, and one for every star made on a corner piece. The biggest score wins.
Becker Associates, which licensed the game to Funskool, says a game takes about seven minutes, so it's easy to play several rounds in a row.
A tip: before you grab, look at which open edges of your puzzle need which colour, so you know straight away which piece to go for.

What reviewers and players say
No independent reviews or forum threads about Jig Stars could be found, so this rests on the makers' own material. Funskool and the licensing agency Becker Associates pitch it as a competitive jigsaw race for 2 to 4 players, with everyone grabbing at once and a game lasting about seven minutes. The box lists social, motor, problem-solving and colour and shape recognition skills, so it is aimed at young children more than adults. Expect a noisy, quick game where fast hands and a good eye for colours matter more than planning.

Questions people ask about Jig Stars
How do you play Jig Stars?
Each turn one player draws as many pieces as there are players from the bag and drops them in the middle. Everyone grabs one at the same time and adds it to their own puzzle on any edge. When the pieces run out, you score for matching-colour diamonds and for stars on corner pieces, and the highest score wins.
How many players and what age is Jig Stars for?
Two to four players, and Funskool says ages 6 and up. Younger children can join in with help, but the small pieces mean it should stay away from toddlers.
How long does a game of Jig Stars take?
Becker Associates, which licensed the game, says about seven minutes. With two players the bag lasts longer, because only two pieces come out each turn.
Is Jig Stars the same as a jigsaw puzzle?
The pieces lock together like a jigsaw, but there is no picture to finish. Each player builds their own shape, and points come from matching colours into diamonds and making stars on corner pieces.
Who makes Jig Stars?
Funskool makes it in India under licence from Becker Associates, a licensing agency that represents game inventors. The box carries a 2020 copyright line for Becker Associates.
