The quick verdict
Full verdict ↓Great for Noisy family evenings and cousins' get-togethers where everyone wants to join in
Think twice if You want a calm game: the maker calls it 'scream-out-loud'
How we rate it
Learning curve. Spot a match and grab. The only things to learn are the two shouts and the penalty, which puts it at 1 on our scale with UNO and Connect 4.
Luck & skill. The order of the cards is luck; sharp eyes, memory and fast hands decide who grabs first.
Interaction. Everyone races for the same toy at the same moment, and a false grab costs you.
Set-up. Shuffle the cards, set Bunty in the middle of the table within everyone's reach, and start flipping.
Reading. The cards are about pictures of dinosaurs; only the rules need reading, once.
Learning curve: 1 = UNO or Connect 4; 3 = Catan; 5 = a heavy strategy game. These describe the experience, not an overall score.
Is Grab That Dino right for you?
Great if
- Noisy family evenings and cousins' get-togethers where everyone wants to join in
- Children and adults together, since spotting a match needs sharp eyes, not reading
- Short gaps: a game lasts 10 to 20 minutes
- Supporting a party game designed and made in India
Skip it if
- You want a calm game: the maker calls it 'scream-out-loud'
- Someone at your table gets upset when others have faster hands
- You want strategy; it is all eyes, memory and reflexes
How Grab That Dino plays
The box holds a deck of dinosaur cards and Bunty, a squeaky toy dinosaur who sits in the middle of the table where everyone can reach him. Some cards show a dinosaur and others its zombie twin, and the aim is to finish with the most cards.
- Time to teach: about 3 minutes.
- Reading and language: The game is about spotting matching dinosaur pictures, so nobody needs to read during play. The only words are the two calls everyone shouts, 'COMET COMET' and 'LAVA LAVA', which work in any accent. Someone needs to read the rules once.

A turn, step by step
- 1Flip
Turn a card face up so everyone can see it.
- 2Spot
Watch every open card. A dinosaur and its zombie twin showing at once means it's time to grab.
- 3Grab
Dive for Bunty, the squeaky dino. The first to grab him wins all the open cards; grab too early or shout wrongly and you pay a penalty.
- 4Win
At the end, the player with the most cards wins.
The full explanation: how a game of Grab That Dino goes
Players flip cards face up one after another. Watch the open cards closely: when a dinosaur and its zombie version are both showing, everyone dives for Bunty, and whoever grabs him first wins all the open cards.
Some cards add shouting: when a comet or lava card turns up, the box says to yell and grab Bunty, and Bored Game Company gives the calls as 'COMET COMET' and 'LAVA LAVA'. Anyone who grabs too early, flinches or shouts the wrong thing pays a penalty. The rules in the box explain which cards do what, and the maker's how-to-play video shows a round.
When the game ends, the player with the most cards wins. A game takes 10 to 20 minutes, and most groups want a rematch.
Expect a lot of noise and some lunging across the table, so clear away glasses of chai first, and seat the youngest players close enough to reach Bunty too.

What reviewers and players say
We could find no independent reviews, blogs, forum threads or videos about Grab That Dino yet, so this summary comes from Bored Game Company's own description and box. On paper it is a short, very loud speed game: spot a dinosaur and its zombie twin, then race to grab a squeaky toy, with shouted calls and penalties for jumping the gun. It is the maker's first original game and is made in India. How well it holds up after many plays, and how fair the grab feels with eight players, is not yet known.
What people love
- A squeaky toy to grab, which makes every match a moment of chaos
- Short rounds of 10 to 20 minutes that are easy to repeat
- No reading during play, so children and adults can play together
- Designed and made in India by an Indian publisher
Common complaints
- No independent reviews yet, so it is hard to judge how long it stays fun
- Players with slower reactions may lose most grabs
- The full rules aren't online, so you need the sheet in the box or the maker's video
