The quick verdict
Full verdict ↓Great for Families who want a light, playful way to talk about shares, prices and investing with children
Think twice if You expect a realistic lesson in investing; prices move only because players push them
How we rate it
Learning curve. Three simple steps a turn, but choosing which prices to push and working out the final count, where each card can be one of two companies, takes a game to get comfortable with. That puts it with Ticket to Ride on our scale.
Luck & skill. The cards you draw and other players' moves matter a lot, but deciding which two prices to push, and when to play a SWAP card, is where skill comes in.
Interaction. Every price move affects everyone, so you are always helping or hurting someone, and a SWAP card can take a rival's whole hand. The designer jokes that nobody is your friend in this game.
Set-up. Shuffle and deal five cards each, lay out three open cards, and put the ten company pawns on their stands on the market and the price tracker.
Reading. Company names on the cards and board labels are in English; scoring needs adding and rounding to 5.
Learning curve: 1 = UNO or Connect 4; 3 = Catan; 5 = a heavy strategy game. These describe the experience, not an overall score.
Is Big Bull Junior right for you?
Great if
- Families who want a light, playful way to talk about shares, prices and investing with children
- Children from 8 who like Business or Monopoly and are ready for something faster
- Groups of three to five cousins, since every move changes prices for everyone
- A gift with an Indian flavour: Dosa Kingdom, Cotton Ministry and News Kapital are on the cards
Skip it if
- You expect a realistic lesson in investing; prices move only because players push them
- Someone at your table hates having their hand taken; SWAP cards exchange whole hands
- Your group wants a long, deep trading game rather than a 30-minute family one
How Big Bull Junior plays
Set-up: shuffle the 105 cards and deal five to each player, face down, then lay three face up beside the deck. Put one pawn of each of the five companies on the five 'S' spaces in the Central Market, in any order, and the other five on START on the Price Tracker. The round token goes on R1, and whoever shouts 'Big Bull!' first starts.
- Time to teach: about 10 minutes.
- Reading and language: The cards show company names and the board's labels in English, but there is little to read once you know the companies. The rule sheet is in English; a Hindi rules-and-review video exists for families who prefer it.

- 4Win
After ten rounds, value your cards at the final prices; the richest player wins.
The full explanation: how a game of Big Bull Junior goes
Each share card shows two companies, and you decide at the end which one it counts as. The five companies are Dosa Kingdom (food), Blackhawk (cars), Yottaphone (telecom), Cotton Ministry (clothing) and News Kapital (media).
Your turn has three steps. Take one card, either one of the three face-up cards (refill the gap from the deck) or the top card of the deck. Then move any two company pawns one step each in the Central Market onto a neighbouring bull or bear space: a bull raises that company's price and a bear lowers it. Finally move those companies' pawns forward or back on the Price Tracker to the new price.
Five SWAP cards add a twist. On your turn you can use one to exchange your whole hand with any player you choose, or simply throw it away; once used, it is discarded. The rule sheet calls it a double-edged sword: use it too early and it gains little, save it too long and someone may swap it away from you.
The game ends after ten rounds. Throw away unused SWAP cards, round each price to the nearest 5 on the tracker, and count each card as whichever of its two companies is worth more. Add up your shares, and the richest player wins. Tip: you gain as much by pushing down the companies your rivals hold as by pushing up your own.

What reviewers and players say
Big Bull Junior got warm launch coverage in Chennai as a first step into money talk for children. The Times of India described a Chennai parent using it to introduce her nine-year-old son to the share market, and a Funskool marketing manager said parents were looking for ways to build financial literacy. The designer told The New Indian Express that testers liked its simplicity and that SWAP cards play a powerful role, warning that 'nobody is reliable or your friend in this game'. No independent written reviews or forum threads could be found, so treat it as a light, interactive family game that opens conversations about money rather than a course in investing.
What people love
- A simple, child-friendly way into ideas like share prices, bulls and bears, and building a portfolio
- Familiar Indian touches, such as Dosa Kingdom and Cotton Ministry, instead of foreign brand names
- Short, about 30 minutes, with every player's move changing prices for all
- SWAP cards add bluffing and drama to the last rounds
Common complaints
- Prices move only because players push them, so it is not a realistic picture of the market
- A well-timed SWAP card can take a leading player's whole hand, which some children may find unfair
- Rounding every price to the nearest 5 at the end can slow younger children down

Questions people ask about Big Bull Junior
How do you play Big Bull Junior?
Each player holds share cards for five made-up companies. On your turn you take a card, move two company pawns onto bull or bear spaces to push prices up or down, and update the price tracker. After ten rounds, the player whose cards are worth the most wins.
What age is Big Bull Junior for?
Funskool says 8 and up, for 2 to 5 players, and a game takes about 30 minutes. Children need to add up and round numbers to the nearest 5 at the end, so a younger child can play with an adult doing the final count.
Is Big Bull Junior an Indian game?
Yes. It was designed by Santhosh Kumar Subramanian of Bambaram, a Chennai games studio, and published by Funskool in April 2021. Its made-up companies, such as Dosa Kingdom and Cotton Ministry, have an Indian flavour.
Does Big Bull Junior teach the real share market?
It introduces the ideas: share prices that rise and fall, bulls and bears, and holding a spread of companies. Prices move only because players push them, so it is a family game that starts conversations rather than a lesson in real investing.
Is there a Big Bull game for adults?
No grown-up edition was found; Funskool sells only Big Bull Junior. Adults can play it with children, and for a longer money game for older players, Business or Monopoly are the usual choices.
