The quick verdict

Great for Rainy days and school holidays, when children need to get up and move indoors

Think twice if You want a quiet game around the table; this one has children rushing round the house

How we rate it

Learning curve. Read four clues, find one thing, count the matches. A six-year-old gets it after one turn, so it sits with UNO at 1 on our scale.

Luck & skill. Which four clues you draw is luck, but spotting one clever object that fits three or four of them is skill.

Interaction. Everyone races along the same board, but each search is your own; the rules shown online don't say whether others hunt at the same time.

Set-up. Open the board, put the pieces at the start, shuffle the clue cards and agree which rooms are in play.

Reading. Each clue card is a short English prompt; non-readers need an adult to read them out.

Learning curve: 1 = UNO or Connect 4; 3 = Catan; 5 = a heavy strategy game. These describe the experience, not an overall score.

Is Found It! Board Game right for you?

Great if

  • Rainy days and school holidays, when children need to get up and move indoors
  • Families with children from 6 who can read short prompts, or have an adult read them
  • Two to five cousins at a family get-together
  • A screen-free birthday gift for a child of about 6 to 9

Skip it if

  • You want a quiet game around the table; this one has children rushing round the house
  • Your children are 4 or 5: Skillmatics' card-only Found It! decks are made for ages 4 to 7
  • You need a game for a car or train: the board version needs a room full of everyday things to search

How Found It! Board Game plays

Set-up: open the board, put each player's piece (there are five) at the start of the swirl, shuffle the 100 clue cards and keep the timer handy.

  • Time to teach: about 5 minutes.
  • Reading and language: Each clue card is a short English prompt such as 'something red' or 'something smaller than your head'. Children who can't read them yet need an adult to read the cards aloud, and the prompts are easy to translate into Hindi or any home language as you play.

The full explanation: how a game of Found It! Board Game goes

A turn: pick up four clue cards. They ask for things like 'something red', 'something with a pattern', 'something that does not bend' or 'something that usually comes in pairs'. Flip the timer and search the room for ONE object that fits as many of the four clues as you can.

Moving: you move one space along the swirl for every clue your object matches. Skillmatics' own example is a red scarf that matches three clues and earns three steps forward. The first player to reach the centre of the board wins.

Before you start, agree the house rules: which rooms are in play, that nothing breakable or from the kitchen counts, and who decides whether an object really matches a clue. With younger players, let an adult read the cards and judge the matches.

The rules shown online don't say how long the timer runs or whether the other players hunt at the same time, so check the manual in the box.

About the editions

Found It! Board Game is Skillmatics' own game, and Skillmatics' product page gives India as the country of origin, with Grasper Global Private Limited, its Mumbai company, as the manufacturer. Skillmatics' photo of its international box back is printed 'Made in India' too. There is no imported edition to look for. Our Amazon.in link goes to Skillmatics' Indian box.

Before you choose

  • The box should say Skillmatics and 'Found It! The Board Game', with a 6-99 years badge.
  • Check the contents: 1 game board, 100 clue cards, 1 timer and 5 game pieces.
  • Skillmatics' item code for the Indian box is SKILL237FBG and its barcode is 8904279501973.
  • A Found It! box with no board or timer, labelled ages 4-7, is one of Skillmatics' card-only decks, a different game.
  • Skillmatics names Grasper Global Private Limited as the manufacturer; look for that name on the box.

What reviewers and players say

We found no independent reviews or forum threads about the Found It! Board Game; most of what is online is about Skillmatics' card-only Found It! decks. On paper the board version adds a clever twist: instead of finding one thing per card, you hold four clues and look for a single object that ticks as many as possible, which rewards quick, creative thinking. It gets children up and moving around the house, which suits rainy days and school holidays. The timer length and a few rule details aren't published online, so read the manual in the box first.

What people love

  • Gets children up and searching the house instead of sitting still
  • Finding one object for several clues rewards creative thinking, not just speed
  • 100 clue cards, so the prompts don't repeat quickly
  • Little to set up: a board, a timer and a pile of cards

Common complaints

  • No independent reviews yet, so it is hard to say how well it holds children's interest over many games
  • Needs a room full of everyday objects, so it doesn't travel the way the card-only decks do
  • Someone has to judge whether an object really matches a clue, which the online rules don't cover

Questions people ask about Found It! Board Game

How do you play Found It! Board Game?

Pick four clue cards, flip the timer and look for one object that matches as many of the clues as possible. You move one space for each clue it matches, and the first player to reach the centre of the board wins.

What is the difference between Found It! Board Game and Found It! Indoor + Travel?

The board game, for ages 6 and up, has a board, a timer, five pieces and 100 clue cards, and you try to match several clues with one object to race ahead. Found It! Combo: Indoor + Travel, for ages 4 to 7, is cards only: two themed decks of clues in carry cases, one clue at a time, and the first to win seven cards wins.

What age is Found It! Board Game for, and how many can play?

Skillmatics labels it for ages 6 and up, and listings give 2 to 5 players, which matches the five playing pieces in the box. An Indian store listing gives about 20 minutes a game.

Is Found It! Board Game made in India?

Yes. Skillmatics' product page gives India as the country of origin and names Grasper Global Private Limited, Skillmatics' Mumbai-based company, as the manufacturer, and Skillmatics' photo of its international box back is printed 'Made in India'.

Can younger children play Found It! Board Game?

Children under 6 can join in if an adult reads the clues and helps judge the matches, but finding one object for several clues at once is hard for them. For ages 4 to 7, Skillmatics' card-only Found It! decks, with one clue at a time, are the better fit.
