The quick verdict
Full verdict ↓Great for Cricket-loving families, especially during a big series or the IPL season
Think twice if You already own classic UNO and don't care about the cricket theme: the game is almost the same
How we rate it
Learning curve. Classic UNO plus two special cards. Anyone who knows UNO can play straight away.
Luck & skill. Mostly the luck of the draw, as in classic UNO; holding your Wilds for the right moment gives a little say.
Interaction. Skip, Reverse and draw cards hit other players directly, and everyone watches for the missed 'UNO' call.
Set-up. Shuffle, deal seven cards to each player and turn over the first card of the discard pile.
Reading. Play is by colours, numbers and symbols; only the rule sheet has text.
Learning curve: 1 = UNO or Connect 4; 3 = Catan; 5 = a heavy strategy game. These describe the experience, not an overall score.
Is UNO Cricket right for you?
Great if
- Cricket-loving families, especially during a big series or the IPL season
- A small gift for a young cricket fan who already plays UNO
- Big family gatherings: up to 10 can play
- Train journeys and holidays: it's a small card pack
Skip it if
- You already own classic UNO and don't care about the cricket theme: the game is almost the same
- You want to read the full rules before buying: Mattel hasn't put this deck's rule sheet online
How UNO Cricket plays
UNO Cricket plays like classic UNO. Deal seven cards to each player, turn one over to start the discard pile, and take turns matching the top card by colour, number or symbol. If you can't play, draw a card.
- Time to teach: about 10 minutes (less if everyone knows UNO).
- Reading and language: Like classic UNO, the cards work with colours, numbers and symbols, so nobody needs to read during play. The rule sheet in the pack explains the two cricket cards.

A turn, step by step
- 1Match
Play a card that matches the top card by colour, number or symbol, or play a Wild. If you can't, draw a card.
- 2Cricket
The WILD Bouncer and WILD Draw 4/6 are the two special cricket cards; the pack's rule sheet explains them.
- 3UNO
Call 'UNO' when you're down to one card, or draw two if someone catches you.
- 4Win
Be the first to play your last card.
The full explanation: how a game of UNO Cricket goes
The usual UNO action cards are in the deck, such as Skip, Reverse and Wild Draw 4, so you can still make the next player miss a turn, change the direction of play or pick up cards.
What's new is the look and two special cricket Wild cards: the WILD Bouncer and the WILD Draw 4/6. Indian store descriptions say the Draw 4 card lets you score a surprise 'six'. Exactly what each special card does is printed on the rule sheet in the pack; Mattel hasn't put that sheet online, so we can't spell it out here.
As in classic UNO, you call 'UNO' when you're down to one card (or draw two if someone catches you first), and the first player to empty their hand wins the round. Many families just play single rounds; classic UNO's scoring plays to 500 points.

What reviewers and players say
We found no written reviews of UNO Cricket and no forum discussion. What is known comes from Indian store descriptions and a 2021 how-to-play video from an Indian toy channel, which describe classic UNO in a cricket theme with two cricket Wild cards. Fans of classic UNO can expect the same quick, noisy rounds; how much the two special cards change the game depends on rules Mattel hasn't published online.
What people love
- Cricket artwork in a pitch-green deck, a natural gift for young fans
- Classic UNO rules, so anyone who knows UNO can play at once
- Plays with up to 10, good for big family gatherings
Common complaints
- The special cards' rules aren't published online, so you rely on the sheet in the pack
- Apart from the theme and two cards, it's the same game as classic UNO

Questions people ask about UNO Cricket
What is the difference between UNO and UNO Cricket?
The rules are classic UNO: match by colour, number or symbol and be first to empty your hand. UNO Cricket changes the look, with a pitch-green cricket-themed deck, and adds two special cricket Wild cards, the WILD Bouncer and the WILD Draw 4/6, which the pack's own rule sheet explains.
How many players can play UNO Cricket, and what age is it for?
The pack says 2 to 10 players, and it is for ages 7 and up, the same as classic UNO.
Is UNO Cricket an official Mattel game?
Yes. It is Mattel's item HJK96, sold under the Mattel Games and UNO names in India. Mattel's global websites don't list it, so check that the pack you buy carries Mattel's name.
Is UNO Cricket made in India?
We couldn't confirm it. Indian listings give India as the country of origin and name an Indian card printer as maker, but we found no Mattel statement or box photo that says so. Check the label on the pack if it matters to you.
